West Houston Quilter’s Guild 2025 Challenge Quilt
“Springtime in Texas”
The design of the challenge quilt will represent the name of a flower that’s name starts with the letter (i.e., “D” = Daffodil or Daisy, etc.) drawn randomly at the Guild meeting in the Spring of 2024 and will be entered in the Guild’s 2025 Quilt Show.
Rules:
1. The size of the challenge quilt shall be 6” x 40”. The letter drawn needs to be visible in some manner at the bottom of the quilt and be part of the quilt design. (See examples.)
2. Challenge quilts may be pieced, foundation pieced, English paper pieced, hand or machine appliqued, hand or machine embroidered, and may be quilted by hand or machine. You may use traditional patterns, but quilts must be original in design (i.e., not from a kit).
3. Challenge quilts must be quilted through three layers and have visible quilting by hand, by machine or both.
4. Challenge quilts must have an open-ended four inch diameter rod pocket (quilt hanging sleeve) stitched to the back of the quilt on the narrow end.
5. All quilts are to be entered in the WHQG 2025 Quilt Show in the Guild Challenge category. Only one entry per member will be allowed in this category.
6. Quilts will be revealed at the January 2025 Guild meeting or another date to be determined later.
Don't procrastinate though—it takes time to develop your idea.
